Win’s Famous French Toast
Serves 2-4 people
My godmother, Win, has been part of my family’s story for decades—first as my grandmother’s friend, then guiding my parents through their early years in New York, and finally, becoming my own. Our tradition of breakfast before flights started on a whirlwind trip home when I squeezed in a visit to her Manhattan apartment the morning I was leaving. French toast, warm coffee, and endless conversation became our ritual—a table filled with stories, love, and the ever-important choice between cranberry or orange juice. Cooking with Win over the years has shaped my love for the kitchen, and this recipe is a tribute to those mornings spent together, savoring food while it’s hot and fresh. So, grab a baguette, soak it in cinnamon-kissed batter, and join me in keeping this tradition alive—because here, we eat together.

1 French baguette
4 eggs
4 tbsp of butter
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Confectioners sugar, for garnish, optional
Instructions:
Slice the baguette into 8 equal pieces and set aside.
Break your eggs into a medium size bowl and combine them with the cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and vanilla extract. Using a fork or whisk, beat the eggs briskly for 30-60 seconds.
Pour mixture into a shallow bowl. Dip bread in egg mixture.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
